The former Royal Marine was found not guilty of racial aggravation by a jury with lightning speed. And I was struck by a comment on Twitter that suggested the reason to prosecute him, was so that individuals could advance their careers by having an example of how they had ‘fought racism’.
The idea sat in my head, and stewed. Since the great liberalisation of the country in the 90s/00s, the real problem for ‘progressives’ is that there are no dragons left to slay. But we’ve built an entire framework, depending on being able to demonstrate that you are a dragon slayer.
And the truth is, it’s no different in our legal system. We too have been captured by DEI (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion). The fact that it a political belief system and that really lawyers should be impartial is forgotten. Both professions (solicitor and barrister) are run through with this nonsense. But in two key places, it is actively undermining our legal system. Where?
