I write this just after I appeared on GB News. And one of the purposes of this substack is that I can explain myself in a bit more detail than telly always allows. Whatever my detractors say, I take a TV appearance seriously and I always do my research.

My talent, if I have one, is not being the leading expert in one tiny corner of law - it is my ability to explain law, accessibly, across a very broad bunch of legal areas. My friend Andre Walker and I have a saying - people aren’t thick, people are busy. My job is to explain things as clearly as possible.

So what’s going on with Hamas? And why do I think it is doomed?
