I have a little black book in my bedside drawer The Constitution of the United Kingdom of Britain (ISBN 979-8478895778). For the last 3 years I’ve become fascinated with our constitution. I wonder why it’s not taught in our schools given its historical context. Is it in the interest of the establishment for the people to be ignorant of the constitution? I’m really looking forward to this podcast series.
I feel I am about to be educated and look forward to really getting to know all about The Constitution and above all gaining an innerstanding of it too!.
It would be really good to be able to share the constitution on social media to get Britain to understand what our constitution is. Thanks for this Steven, this is going to be very interesting!
I've been thinking about sovereignty a lot. We are told that Parliament is sovereign. This seems to me to be irrational. Parliamentarians are all elected. I can't see how one can become sovereign by election ; surely one is born sovereign. I believe the only rational stance to take is that the People born in the UK are sovereign and Parliament wealds that only on our behalf. So, it seems to me, if Parliament acts against the interests of the People ( two tier justice, etc.) then it is acting in a treasonous way and I would argue this should trigger a Gen Election ? Really enjoying your content Steven. Thankyou :)
I am really looking forward to the talks on this topic. I think it is so important that we all understand fully our Constitution. Understanding it means we have a connection to our history as a nation and comprehension what is happening now and the consequences for the future.
Regarding issues with a written constitution, just watch BBC Wales TV to see how much time is wasted in the Welsh Senedd discussing and arguing over the operation of the Welsh Assembly, with its obsessive self-interest compared to the time actually spent on the National itself
